Your New Patient Visit at Superior Family Dentistry

At Superior Family Dentistry, we view your first visit as the foundation of our enduring relationship. This key appointment involves a thorough review of your medical and dental history. It also gives you a chance to meet your doctor and our team, providing a comfortable space to discuss any dental health concerns and your treatment options. We emphasize creating a relaxed environment for your initial visit, ensuring you have sufficient time without feeling hurried.

Step 1: Your Appointment

Upon your arrival, our welcoming team will be ready to assist you with check-in, notifying your oral health team of your arrival, and verifying insurance if applicable. To save time, we recommend completing any new patient forms sent in your appointment confirmation email before you arrive.

Afterward, a friendly team member will escort you from the waiting room to a private treatment room. During your visit, our dental team will review your dental and medical history and discuss any dental health concerns or issues you may have. To further assess your oral health, our dental assistant will take X-rays to examine the jaw’s structure, teeth position, and tooth condition.

Step 2: Your Exam

Once you’re settled in a treatment room, a team member will review your dental and medical history and any concerns you may have. We use advanced dental technology such as intraoral cameras to provide a tour of your mouth allowing us to make more accurate diagnoses and provide personalized treatment plans.

During your comprehensive exam, we will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, and take x-rays to assess your overall oral health. Our goal is to help you achieve your dental goals while ensuring your comfort and satisfaction. After the exam, we will review our findings with you and discuss recommended treatments and procedures.

Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit

During your first visit, your dental health team will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth to determine the appropriate treatment plan for your specific oral health needs. Depending on your condition, a cleaning may or may not be performed during this initial visit.

Our skilled dental hygienist will perform an oral cancer screening and evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums. If a cleaning is deemed appropriate, the hygienist will use traditional tools or advanced water-powered instruments to remove any buildup of plaque or tartar. Your hygienist will also provide personalized tips on maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing gum disease. The entire new patient comprehensive exam typically takes 90 minutes, and you will be provided with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste to continue your home care routine.

New Patient Forms

To prepare for your upcoming appointment, Superior Family Dentistry provides our patient forms online. Completing forms before your visit will also help ensure timely check-in for your appointment.  If you are unable to print and complete the forms, we ask that you arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early, so you may complete them in the office.

Learn More About New Patients at Superior Family Dentistry

Yes! Superior Family Dentistry accepts new patients and is often able to schedule appointments within a few weeks or even days. Your first visit will usually include an appointment with the doctor for a comprehensive exam and all necessary X-rays. During your new patient appointment, you can speak with our dentists about any specific trouble areas or concerns.

In the past, you may have been able to schedule your first appointment with a new dentist for just a dental cleaning. However, our dentists follow current standards in the dental field and all new patients receive a comprehensive oral examination and any necessary X-rays. This ensures that the dentist has a full and clear picture of your mouth and oral health before proceeding with care. If cleaning is the proper next course of treatment, appointments are often available on the same day.

In order to make payments convenient for our patients, we offer several options.

We are in network with Delta Dental Premier and accept most dental insurance plans. Our dental team will gladly help you with an estimate of benefits before your treatment and with filing your insurance claim. If we are out-of-network for your insurance, we will help guide you in filing a claim. Patients are responsible for the difference between the insurance benefit and the cost of the procedure. Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made.
